FAQ

QUESTION: Do you accept insurance?

ANSWER: No, but I am happy to provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance for repayment. I do not provide diagnosis codes or communicate with health insurance compaies on behalf of my patients.

QUESTION: Do you do dry needling?

Dry needling is acupuncture without a license. Any provider performing dry needling has SIGNIFICANTLY less training than I do, and is not recommend by me for this reason. Serious injury can occor when other professions treat acupuncture like a service “add on.” Acupuncture absolutely addresses muscle pain as many “trigger points” are actually on acupuncture meridian! My priority and that of my national certification body, the NCCAOM, is to protect the you from the unsafe practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine by individuals who do not have appropriate training and meet competency standards. QUESTION: Is acupuncture safe?

ANSWER: Yes. When performed by a licensed acupuncturist (one part of Traditional Chinese Medicine) has been used successfully worldwide for over 2500 years. I completed 4 post graduate years of Acupuncture/Traditional Chinese Medicine education, over 2 years of clinical work, 16+ additional years of continuing education training, including over 500 hours of additional supervised study in the field. I’ve has passed the necessary licensing exams to practice acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I complete safety and competency training every two years to maintain my license, and every four years to maintain my board certification.

QUESTION: Acupuncture “fixed” someone I know, can you do the same thing for me?ANSWER:  I will never claim to “cure” or “fix” anyone. No two people are the same, which is why treatment needs, results, and treatment times often vary. Each session is personalized, as there’s no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all”care. Together, we can determine the treatment approach that is best for you.

QUESTION: Do I have to “believe” in acupuncture/acupressure for it to help me?

ANSWER: NO. Aupuncture/acupuressure is scientifically based, physiological medicine. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine has over 2,500 year history of clinical success. It’s not a religion, a form of eastern mysticism, nor is it correctly described as “only” energy work. I have no objection to energy-based modalities, I don’t deny that we are energetic beings, or that acupuncture affects our energy. It’s simply not the physiological description of the medicine detailed in the Huang Di Nei Jing, the oldest surviving Chinese Medical text.

QUESTION: Can you be my only doctor?

ANSWER: No. Because I am not a medical doctor, my scope of practice is limited. I recommend that all my patients remain in contact with their doctor (MD, DO, DC, DDS) and continue with your regular medical care both preventative and for any current medical condition your doctor has told you requires treatment, including medications.

QUESTION: Can I use this site instead of seeing a doctor.

ANSWER: No, that is not advisable. I am not a medical doctor, I function as a coach. In my physical office I remain a acupuncturist (FL) and my care is not to be substituted for the care of a medical doctor. While I maintain a license to practice acupuncture in my home state and remain nationally board certified by the NCCAOM, I am not providing medical care to you. I am providing an educational service only, not a diagnosis or treatment. I recommend everyone I work with remain in contact with their doctor (MD, DO, DC, DDS) and continue with all recommended check ups and screenings. While I respect your right to chose your own health care, I reserve the right to refuse to work with you if I believe you are putting your health at risk by refusing to seek appropriate medical care.

QUESTION: I see you’re a Pastoral Counselor. Does this mean you only work with Christians?

ANSWER: No. We are a judgement-free office space. If you do not consider yourself Christian or “religious” Please don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater! A temperament-based approach is scientifically supported and proven accurate! We do not discriminate. This approach can help anyone, and we are here for you.

QUESTION: Can something with “religious” roots it really be scientific?

ANSWER: Yes!. After over 35 years of documented and peer reviewed research, Drs. Richard and Phillis Arno created the Arno Profile System, which has been proven to be over 95% accurate with clients reporting higher success and satisfaction rates as compared to traditional therapy.
